![]() ![]() ![]() Sandro Dernini visits Australia24 December 2003Culture Lab was pleased to welcome Sandro Dernini of Plexus International for ten days in December 2003. The much awaited visit was an opportunity to review Culture Lab’s historical storyline and to plan for Plexus/Culture Lab ongoing collaboration for 2004 Triangle of Art into 2005 and 2006.
Sandro spent ten days based at Yellow Rock with various gatherings and excursions to hook up with Lab members for intensified research into what is Culture Lab now and how does the Plexus storyline from New York/Sardinia/Dakar continue as carried by Willem Brugman since his arrival in Australia thirteen years ago. A Black Box of Plexus archive material was unpacked and re-ordered in presentation folders and suddenly the Plexus switch was ON. Sandro spent time at Pearl Beach with writer/researcher John Archer, at Mooney Mooney with photographer/artist Juno Gemes (who met with Sandro in italy in 2002), in Maroota forest with painter/activist Geoff Buchan, in Newcastle with director Niz Jabour. Ashes were exchanged with Gimiloroy man, Steve Laylor to be taken to The Door Of No Return in May 2004. Sandro's visit to Australia activated conceptualisations toward Culture Lab's involvment in the Triangle Of Art, May 2004, Dakar.
