Remembering a task calling from the future

Keep the voyage alive:
(If we don't know where we are coming from
We don't know where we are going to)
Another World is Possible!

"All this that has happened to you
in Australia 200 years ago, happened to us 500 years ago.
When the invaders came, they were already broken people. Their Languages were broken, their Spirit was broken. Then they visited their brokenness upon us.
This was the reason for their blindness. This was why the could not recognize us. They knew nothing of this Land they had entered uninvited. They knew nothing about our Law.
It is from their brokeness that such cruelty was visited upon us.
We have to make ourselves and our country whole again" Peruvian Elder as translated by Juno Gemes at the World Conference of Indigenous Peoples (Wollongong, NSW /Australia 1996)
Let All Our Children Be The Creators of Unbroken Sustainable Futures.

ICONOLOGIA

Iconologia is an archeaological dig to explore the Hidden History of Australia by looking from the present into the past and reviewing our ancestry and ways of being in and relating to the land and its custodians.

To understand how it was for others, we might accept rather than deny or reject that past. Our intention is to create photographic images as expressions of our feelings and thoughts about hidden personal and historical references. By placing the multiple personae characters into the natural environment we extend the work into a new visual eco-resonant iconography.

This work is part of a route-recorrection to make us whole again.

This series of photographs were made at Yellow Rock, in the Blue Mountains of NSW, Australia, after the Bush Fires of December 2001/January 2002.

Realisation

Project is realised as photographic installation.
