Vision

From October 6 - October 10, Culture Lab International will host a FREE workshop for young people aged 17-24 at their Yellow Rock base in the lower Blue Mountains. Culture Lab offers a unique space and place to discover new ways of performance making and presentation: an exciting mix of performers, researchers and culture makers from different professional and cultural backgrounds. Main workshop times will be 10am - 4pm with a pick-up from Springwood station at 9.30am and a drop-off at 4.30pm. Friday night performance presentation 7pm.

Come and join in for an hour, a day or the whole week.

If this is not possible, perhaps you can come to our presentation at

Faulconbridge Community Hall, 2 Home Street, Faulconbridge

on Friday evening October 10 from 7 pm onwards.

This workshop is part of

NSW ArtStart 2003 & proudly sponsored by BMCC

Learn about, explore and express:

Inter-cultural awareness

Identity and place

Indigenous/non-indigenous relations and stories

Australia now: the colonised psyche, inter-cultural & inter-generational reverberations and 'coming into country'

Globalisation and its impacts

Social action and grass-roots participation

Realisation

The workshop will be held outdoors on Culture Lab's home base in the middle of Yarramundi forest, Yellow Rock and will involve a range of practical activities from movement expression, creation of text, costume creation, painting and dramatisation of themes and issues uncovered throughout the week. Participants will have access to Culture Lab's research archive and materials. There will be a strong focus on 'living together', sharing meals and co-creating an inspiring ecology for learning and growing together. Participants are encouraged to bring food to share for lunch and instruments or other 'tools of trade', such as art equipment, costumes and dramatic texts. No previous experience required.

This week is about Time Out:

giving ourselves a gift of time to explore and express ourselves individually and collectively as a community of sorts, a flocking of birds of a feather. At the end of the week we will present our findings to our friends, family, neighbours and the greater Blue Mountains community.

We believe Another World Is Possible and invite you to join us in these explorations.
